About
At the center of Detroit based Flaming Arrow Records, along with its subsidiary imprint, Crow, was producer/writer/performer Eugene Davis. In the late 1960s, Davis went to visit family in Milledgeville, GA, about 30 minutes from Macon, GA, home of Otis Redding and Little Richard. There he heard his nephew Curtis' band, The Chevelles. A senior in high school, Custis founded the band in his mother's backyard. The group of highschoolers so impressed Eugene that he quickly signed on to become their manager. In 1968 he launched Flaming Arrow Records, for which The Chevelles would serve as the de facto house band.
