Who are you?

I’m Noé Zagroun / Pastek, I’m a composer, producer and pianist.

How did you hear about Marmoset?

I first heard about Marmoset in 2020, from a friend that was working with them, Nasaya. He quickly introduced us and I started working with Marmoset 3 years ago.

Describe Marmoset in 3 words.

In my mind Marmoset is a dynamic, innovative, super friendly music house.

How has working with Marmoset impacted your life?

My experience with Marmoset has been overwhelmingly positive!

Some context: when I started working with Marmoset, I was straight out of music school, I had been playing piano my whole life and had just finished a masters in jazz performance. But at this point, I knew that I wanted to do a complete 180: I wanted to start making pop/electronic songs! It was also Covid time, which completely validated my 180 turn, as performing was out of the question. Right when I was starting to pick up music production seriously, I got introduced to Marmoset by a close friend and started writing music for them.

It was my first gig of this kind (and I took it very seriously)! The Marmoset producer I was working with (Katy) was awesome. Katy quickly understood my musical strengths and tailored super cool briefs for me with songs to draw inspiration from. As I started writing my first songs, the feedback from the team was challenging, but always on point, and inspiring rather than discouraging. The right amount of challenge and the right amount of fun. At the time (I was 22), it was like taking a cool music production class while getting paid for it. Every time I was making a batch of songs for Marmoset, it was an occasion to lean into something musical I had been wanting to explore. Pretty quickly, my songs started to get licensed, which was very exciting.

Small podcast licenses at first, 8 seconds of one of my tracks on a Snapchat filter, then small internet ads, and then bigger brands, cool online campaigns, custom music for TV commercials!… A few months in, it started getting very interesting financially. Today, basically all my songs got licensed at least once -which I now know is pretty rare, since I work with several other music houses.

The team at Marmoset knows how to use the specific skills/musical culture of their talents to make great songs. It feels like Marmoset wants to stay creative/innovative musically, rather than to make “syncable music”, which I appreciate a lot. If anything, I wish I could make more songs for Marmoset!

What is the placement or project you’ve done with Marmoset you’re most proud of?

One of my favorite placements I got with Marmoset is this GoPro campaign:
