Raised by his grandmother, who was born in Idabel, Oklahoma, trumpeter and composer Farnell Newton developed a deep love for country and spaghetti westerns, a passion sparked by his grandmother’s habit of leaving the TV on all day. Inspired by this love, Farnell is delving into his Choctaw and African American family roots in Oklahoma.Throughout his career, Farnell has toured with three-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/actress Jill Scott, the legendary Rhinestone Rockstar bassist Bootsy Collins, Soul Singer Jarrod Lawson and the Portland Cello Project.
